Carlos Parra-Herran graduated from Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bogota, Colombia) and completed his residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital (Miami, US), followed by subspecialty training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (Toronto, Canada). His research focuses on the pathology of gynecologic tract neoplasia, particularly epithelial lesions of the lower genital tract, uterine mesenchymal tumors, and non-serous ovarian epithelial neoplasia. He has authored over 140 peer-reviewed journal articles (original research and reviews) and edited three reference textbooks in Gynecologic Pathology. He has participated in more than 100 international, national, and regional continuing medical education events as organizer and/or invited faculty. Dr. Parra-Herran currently serves as the Director of the Women’s and Perinatal Pathology service, as well as its fellowship program, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is a member of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) education committee and chairs the USCAP abstract review board. He is also past president of the Latin American Pathology Foundation.
