Dr. Rosane Duarte Achcar is an Associate Professor at National Jewish Health (NJH) in Denver, Colorado, USA, where she has been in practice for more than 10 years. This is an internationally respected medical center that draws people from many countries to receive care and has become a global leader in pulmonary medicine. Dr. Duarte Achcar is a consultant at NJH in the Division of Pathology for challenging pulmonary pathology cases. Dr. Duarte Achcar received her MD degree from University of Brasilia, DF, followed by residency training in Internal Medicine at Hospital Regional da Asa Norte in Brasilia, DF. While an attending physician in Brazil she worked in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, and was board certified in Critical Care Medicine by the Brazilian Society of Critical Care. She completed her residency in Surgical and Clinical Pathology at Kansas University Medical Center, followed by fellowship training in Surgical Pathology at University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, and fellowship training in Thoracic Pathology at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists and American Society of Clinical Pathology, and a Member of the Pulmonary Pathology Society. She has special interest in neoplastic and non-neoplastic pulmonary pathology and has authored and co-authored research articles in this field. She is the author of a pulmonary pathology textbook titled “Pulmonary Pathology, Differential Diagnosis in Surgical Pathology Series”. In her spare time, Dr. Duarte Achcar enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing tennis, and is a passionate skier of Colorado mountains.
