Dr. Rumeal D. Whaley is an Associate Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and a Consultant in Anatomic Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Whaley received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Louisville and received his M.D. degree from that same institution. Dr. Whaley completed his residency training at Indiana University and spent a year in fellowship training in genitourinary pathology at Indiana University and in head and neck pathology at the Cleveland Clinic. He is a subspecialty pathologist with expertise in head and neck, endocrine, and genitourinary pathology. Dr. Whaley has an extensive body of peer‑reviewed publications, has contributed to the current head and neck WHO tumor classification and serves the editorial board for Endocrine Pathology. He is deeply involved in resident and fellow education and is an active educator and regularly serves as an invited speaker at national and international meetings.
